What Influenced the Beatles?
The Beatles were influenced by skiffle. Skiffle was a "kind of souped up folk music that had started a craze among British teenagers" (Spitz 2). They used homemade instruments like washtubs with string and broom attachment. The music produced was an strange assortment of American Blues, folk songs, and spirituals. They were also influenced by Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly Elvis Presely, and of course by rock and roll.

The Fab Fours Favorite Instruments
John Lennon's favorite guitar was a Rickenbacker 325 which he had bought in Hamburg and which made him the first British musician to buy and use an American guitar. The Rickenbacker 325 was a rare guitar when Lennon had bought in 1960 because it was one of only eight natural finish 325s that were made in 1958. Also because it had no sound hole or elevated pickguard but still was unusually light weight. Lennon also made some modifications to the guitar and painted it black ( ).

Paul McCartney's favorite intrument was a 1961 Höfner Bass. He liked it because of its rich tone and sound quality and because it was wasy to play left handed.(rockband)

George Harrison's favorite instrument was a 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet which was extremely hard to get a hold of in Liverpool, but Harrison had found it in a secondhand ad. It was his "first good guitar" and he used it for almost all the years he was in the band.
Ringo Starr's favorite instrument was a Ludwig-Branded Guitar Set which he immediatley fell in love with when he saw its glossy black finish. The Beatles' logo was then added onto the fron of it.
